We encourage our members to participate in our community fiber demonstrations. Bring any fiber demonstration to show to the public. You will also need to bring a chair.

Matthews Alive !
Labor Day Weekend, Sept. 5, 6, & 7, 2026
The Piedmont Fiber Guild will once again participate in the Matthews Alive Festival, Friday, September 4 through Monday, September 7, 2026.
PFG has participated in Matthews Alive for several years, and we need volunteers to help demonstrate and promote fiber arts throughout the Labor Day weekend This is a wonderful opportunity to Share your fiber-art skills with festival visitors
- Introduce the public to spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting, felting, and other fiber arts
- Promote the Piedmont Fiber Guild

Our demonstration room will be indoors and air-conditioned. We usually welcome many festival attendees who enjoy watching our members work, asking questions, and learning more about fiber arts.

Volunteer shifts
Friday, September 4 — Room Setup
- Setup shift: 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Setup usually takes a couple of hours. We need help arranging the room, setting up displays, hanging signs, and preparing the space for the festival.
Saturday, September 5
- First shift: 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
- Second shift: 3:00–7:30 p.m.
- All day: 10:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
Sunday, September 6
- First shift: 12:00–4:00 p.m.
- Second shift: 4:00–7:30 p.m.
- All day: 12:00–7:30 p.m.
Monday, September 7
- First shift: 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
- Second shift: 1:00–5:00 p.m.
- All day: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
The second shift on Monday will include breaking down and packing the demonstration room.
Unable to volunteer for a full shift? Please select the shift that includes the time you are available and indicate your specific volunteer hours on the sign-up form.
Parking near the festival is limited. We will have a small number of parking passes. Vivian has also graciously offered to allow volunteers to park at her home, which is approximately a four-block walk from the building. Complete parking information will be provided to confirmed volunteers.
